Our organic refined Shea butter is produced without chemical solvents and retains the creamy texture of Shea butter. As a matter of fact, if you close your eyes and handle both our refined and unrefined organic Shea butters, you won’t notice any difference in the texture. The only difference is in the color and smell.
- The process used in refining our organic refined Shea butter is the same one used in edible oils. It involves clays and diatomaceous earth (DE).
- The two components work together exceptionally well in filtration to remove unwanted contaminants and particles. This ensures the integrity remains same and the overall butter remains highly potent.

WHITE AND ODORLESS SHEA NUT BUTTER
HOW SHEA BUTTER IS MADE
The first step involved in the processing of Shea nut butter is the wild collection of the Shea nuts. After being picked, the green peel is removed from the nuts. The nuts are sun dried, washed and ground.
This is followed by roasting, pressing and oil washing. The fat extracted from the nut is then melted and filtered to result in pure organic Shea butter.
This is the only melting our Unrefined organic Shea butter goes through before getting into your hands.
- Our refined organic Shea butter goes through a few additional processes, different from our unrefined organic Shea butter.
- Our refined organic Shea butter goes through color processing and filtration.
- It further goes through the deodorization and cooling phase which ensures that it gets to you white and odorless. It therefore has the ability to absorb the pigments you add because it is pure white.
- It is deodorized and filtered using organic clays. The main job of the clays is not only to remove color, it also significantly improves the appearance and stability of the butter.

Any added color using natural clays or flowers will come through very nicely. The odorless butter is also ready to champion the beautiful fragrance you incorporate into it.
